Hey. Awesome site you have. I've lived at O-House for the
last two years, and I've had some slightly creepy experiences to say the least and some of my friends have had extremely wierd
and scary things happen to them. More than one person has said that their TVs turn themselves off and on and their bathroom
doors close by themselves. What I wanted to let you know is about the Jewish Cemetary. You said that you could find
no mention of it. Well I've seen an historical marker everytime I walk to the library. Two blocks down
in the median of Oglethorpe Avenue at the intersection with Bull St. stands a marker that the area was the original Jewish
burial ground alotted to the Jewish Community by James Oglethorpe I think in the early 1700s. So there
you are, there was a Jewish cemetary at least nearby if not right here.

There used to be a woman and her son who stayed in room 634. They lived
there for some time until she couldn't afford to pay the rent anymore so she and the owner worked out a "deal". She would
give him prostitution if he let them stay there. Naturally, the woman did not
want her son to know what she was doing so she always played a game of hide and seek when the owner came to her room. She would also play other times so that the boy would not catch on that every time the owner comes, he had to hide. He could hide anywhere in Oglethorpe House. After the woman and the owner finished, she would go find her son, who would have been hiding for several hours by now. To fill this time of boredom, he would play a game of marbles that his dad had taught him before he died. One night, the owner came back from a bar drunk. He pushed his way into the room and told the woman he wanted her now. She hurried the boy out of bed and told him to go hide. He set out with his marbles on the sixth floor and entered a room down by the elevators that is not a dorm room. It is usually unlocked and stores extra beds and furniture as I have seen myself. On the ceiling is a hatch that leads out to the roof. Once you are on the roof, you cannot gain back entry without a key. Not knowing this, the boy opens the hatch, and peers out thinking, "Oh, this will be a great place to hide. She'll never find me here." He stepped out onto the roof and let the hatch close behind him. Meanwhile, the manager beganbeating the woman with his fist and when she tried to tell him that it had all gone too far, he first knocked her unconscious then drowned her in the bath tub. The boy on the roof became worried once night turned to day and decided to go back down. He went to the hatch, but soon realized it was locked. The side walls on the roof were too high for him to climb or see over and the constant traffic of Savannah muffled his screams. He found shade under one of the air conditioning vents on the roof and began playing with marbles until he starved and baked to death in the burning summer sun. To this day, he can still be heard bouncing, metal balls on the air conditioning vents and his mother has come to be known as "Puddles" because she messes with the water faucets in the showers just as she did when she was strangled beneath the water. Many things around O-house also move randomly as if she is still looking for her son and she turns off televisions and radios to try to hear his cries for help. This is the only true story of the past of these two ghosts and if you've visited Oglethorpe House, room 634 has an obvious eerie feel to it. "DN"

I lived in 524 for my freshman year (2001) in O-House and have experienced
many things that are becoming legend at SCAD. As I lay in bed (my roommate and I had bunked them) I would often hear
the sound of marbles or small round balls dropped on the floor above me and rolling towards the corners of the rooms.
This would happen regularly but I didn't notice all the time because it become so common and i didn't really realize what
the sound was until I was then told by someone who I had mentioned this to that there was a fire in the hotel and two young
boys had died in their room. Is it possible that this is who is playing marbles above me? I dont know, but it
certainly was a distinct sound. Also, I was reading a story from this site about 'Heels' the prostitute. I have
on numerous occasions felt her behind me, but did not hear the sound until I was in my room. She would generally take
5 to 6 steps and the clicking of the heels would stop. Anyone who lived in O-House knows that you cannot hear distinct
sounds above you when people are walking, but I could hear her click click clicks often. I never thought anything about
the constant banging on the ceiling or walls and the screeching of heavy objects being moved above me, until I realized that
other people were having these issues in the floor above me and they werent making the noises themselves.I never believed
in ghosts before, and I certainly do now after living in that room. Isnt Savannah fun?

I lived in room 416 from '93-'94 and now that I think about it, I actually
have a very, very vague memory of the upstairs neighbors dropping something that sounded like a marble over and over again.
It was so arrhythmic and went on for so long that I remember thinking that
they must be on acid. I don't know if it was a one time thing or if it happened at all, but f**k it, it's good enough for a ghost story. If you want to hear something really scary, let me tell you what kind of job you'll get with an art degree... -'JB'

I've been in room 201 here at O-House for a year now, and I hadn't really
any strange experiences, that is until now. I found myself lying in bed late at night, not being able to sleep. The sounds
of marbles hitting the
ceiling stirred me. It sounded like they were hitting right above my bed against the east wall. After about 20 minutes of occasional pitter-pattering sounds, I got up and searched the web for an answer to this phenomenon. I encountered this site and found a similar story occurring directly upstairs in 301. So there I was, sitting at my drawing table facing out towards Oglethorpe Ave.when the marbles began to fall again, sounding again like they were falling directly over my head. Now, being from the Gettysburg area in Pennsylvania, I've heard plenty of ghost stories and many of my friends share their own encounters with paranormal activity with me, but I must say this is one of the most eerie accounts I've ever been privileged to witness. I had an encounter at Habersham Hall. I was in Intro to Photo,
and we had to do a project of photos of a "space." I decided that Habersham
would be cool, since it used to be a jail. So my roomate and I went in and asked the secertary if there was anywhere that I could take pictures that wasn't an office room with desks. She had us follow her down to what I assume is their storage room. It had an Iron door that was different than normal jail doors...It almost made it look like a dungeon. So we went down there and started taking pictures. The whole room was erie, and my roomate and I said that it felt like there was someone else there other than us. But we kept taking pictures, saying that it was just us being paranoid. So I went to take a picture of this bike that was in the corner. I got one picture, but wanted more just incase it didn't turn out. I tried to take another picture and it wouldn't let me. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. So I finally gave up and took pictures of other things down there. When I developed the negatives and printed a few pictures, there seemed to be foggy areas of some of the photos...including the one that I got of the bike. "MRW"

Fall of 2003 I moved into Turner 222 with one of my friends. Through
out the year, mostly at night when it was dark, we both heard incessant furniture moving, banging, and the sound of a stool
being continuously dragged around the floor. Not that that kind of activity is paranormal, i know, and we never went
to the room above us to ask them to knock it out.
But we also heard "rolling" sounds, like a ball rolling, and the commonly
heard "marble drop" sound. What would that sound be? I don't think it's the pipes. A tack or a pen or any other
object that i can think of couldn't make that sound besides something like a marble. I can remember laying in bed at
nite and my roomate being gone, with one marble drop out of nowhere, with no other sounds from the room above. Only
sometimes it would happen right in a row with more sounds. Beats me.

I found your website looking specifically for dorm ghosts since there
have been tons
of rumors circulating.I can only account for a strange occurance happening in room 601, next to room 600. It is a FACT that there was a student that commited suicide in front of rooms 600/601 thus the need for the plexi-glass. That being said I was in my male friends room (the 600's were male then {1998/99} and are female now {2004/5}) and it was near Halloween and we were sitting chatting about random things/life and perhaps video games when we hear this SCREAM, like someone was in trouble. I went outside down the hall, around the corner, checked around...nobody. We didn't have the TV on or anything. It only happened that once and nothing strange ever occured. The marbles dropping, I heard that even in room 416 when I was living there. I mostly ignored it as I heard it in most of the rooms I was in, I think that was something to do with the pipes or something. I now live in Turner House and have lived in room 214 since the place was built. I haven't heard much about finding strange things in the ground from anyone, HOWEVER for the longest time they had an underground leak of some sort (supposedly got fixed just this year I live there since 2000 so that took 4 years) and on numerous occasions at 3AM a random pipe would break and set of the fire alarm. Also on move in day lots of stuff was broken and not working. My AC didn't work and the bathroom ceiling was leaking BAD. I would say Turner House is haunted by bad design and hasty/sloppy construction. "S" 12/19/04
You're more than welcome to use my story. Lately, I've been thinkingabout
the room 634 story. Two friends of mine, as I discussed in the
story, lived on the sixth floor. According to the number placement and the picures you had, I can verify that my friends at least lived on that wing, if not that very room. ( I think) I'm not sure how familiar you are with the floor plan of O-House, (if you were a student there or visited)but their room was on the sixth floor on the wing facing the civic center. (And running parallel with it, versus the other part of the dorm running parallel with Oglethorpe Ave.)On that wing, their room was the first one, closest to the elevator that if run to the first floor would come out by the ballroom. I have a friend attending the college right now, living off campus, and I could maybe get her to dig up info. Love the site! I'm telling some of my ex- O House pals about it! "KM"
I was a student at the college the year of 2000-2001 and lived in
O-House 327 right over the cafeteria dumpsters. I'd heard on several
occasions the sound of a metal ball being dropped or rolling across the
floor. I knew the people in the room above us and asked them what they
were doing all night. Then they told us they had been hearing noises
like that too. This noise was constant through our stay at O-House.
Another story I heard from a friend happened the summer of 1999 during
the summer Rising Stars program. One night around 10:00, the RA's were
doing rounds and noticed something odd on the 2nd floor, facing
Oglethorpe Ave. A group of them went to investigate only to find all
the doors had been opened and there were wet footprints going into the
bathroom of each room, one by one in a line all the way to the end. At
first, it was believed to be a prank by the program kids, and then one
RA pointed out that all the keys to the second floor rooms were locked
in an office that not even the head advisor had access to.
Lastly, was the hooker. We heard her above our room(ceiling), high
heels clacking. We kind of shrugged it off for a while, until we heard it in
a friends room on his ceiling. The weird thing was, he lived on the
sixth floor!Great site, love the trip down memory lane!

Whats up.
My name is Matt and i am currently in 234 Ohouse. I wanted to tell
you of something that happened to me and my roomate, well actually
almost everyone in Ohouse during the winter quarter. We were sitting here
in the room when we heard what sounded like someone chizzeling into the
wall or hammering it in the room above/behind us, If you ar familiar
with Ohouse that woudl be room 333. we didnt think anything of it, but
after it kept going on we got pissed and smacked the wall with a piece
of metal in an attempt to "make them stop." it didnt stop so my roomie
decided to go up to that room and yell that the person who was making
the noise. To our astonishment when the door was opened, you could see
almost every person in Ohouse out on the balcony hearing the same
noise. Our friends on Oglethorpe side could hear it too, but no one new
hwere it was coming from.
We have had quite a few random things happen in this room, from
posters all being off the walls and stacked in the middle of the room, to my
toothbrush turning itself on in the middle of the night "that one
freaks us out."
Just thought that i would share.

I currently live in room 302 in O 'House. My roommate and I hear
quite often (mostly at night)the sound of marbles or some kind of heavy, metal ball being dropped and rolled across the floor.
On another note, last night my roommate, my g/f and I were sitting
in our room when we heard a bang on the door, as if someone kicked it. We went to the door and opened it but no one was there.
Ghost, or prank? The stairs are right ouside my room making for an easy
escape.
